On June 24, Vancouver City Council passed supporting the right of laid-off hotel workers to return to their jobs. Vancouver now joins Burnaby, Victoria, and New Westminster who have previously passed motions supporting the workers.
The Vancouver and District Labour Council is releasing the results of recent polling conducted on their behalf in the City of Vancouver by Research Co. The poll explores voter attitudes toward, and recognition of political parties and potential candidates. The results include a notably strong showing for Mayor Kennedy Stewart, with 49% approval.
The VDLC is highlighting two important motions coming to Vancouver City Council next week. The first is to support the Vote16BC campaign to reduce the voting age to 16. The other is to support hotel workers who are fighting for the right to return to their jobs as the industry reopens post-pandemic.
