The Housing Crisis and COVID-19: What's Happening, and What Can We Do?

Thursday, September 24th. 5:00PM.

Prior to COVID-19, our region was already in the grips of a long-standing housing and affordability crisis, causing housing insecurity and high levels of homelessness.

Today, many workers are experiencing financial hardship due to the pandemic. Often this has resulted in the accumulation of rent debt over the past several months, and the recent lifting of the eviction ban means that their housing may now be at risk. Meanwhile, lack of appropriate rent control is undermining affordability and contributing to the rise of homeleseness.

Why is this happening? How is it impacting you, and your fellow workers? What can we do about it?

Speakers Kari Michaels (BCGEU), and Frank McGee, Vince Tao, and Neil Vokey (VTU) will help us answer these questions and lead us in a discussion of what's next.

This FREE virtual event is open to all VDLC delegates, and members and retirees of affiliated unions. Pre-registration is required. Register today at
