The VDLC together with the Kalayaan Centre in Vancouver fundraised a total of $2,480.00 (US) which we sent to our partner organization the KPD (Citizens for National Democracy) in the Philippines.
This money was in response to an urgent appeal for flood relief for poor neighbourhoods in Manila which were flooded and lost most of their food and supplies.
VESTA also sent an additional $1,100.00 (CDN) which went to assist both general flood relief and the Teachers Union ASSERT.
Kilusan para sa Pambansang Demokrasya (KPD), a non-governmental organisation promoting democracy and the rule of law in the Philippines. is now reporting back on their distribution of this money in the communities and their report is reproduced below.
You'll note that one of the photos show the banner the KPD made showing the VDLC and Kalaayan centre as the sponsors of the food relief.
