BCFED Organizing Institute: Basics of Organizing
About this Event
2 days - October 3 and 4, Saturday and Sunday / 9:30am to 4:00pm Zoom Video Conference
The BCFED Organizing Institute: Basics of Organizing class covers the basics of union organizing to build power within the labour movement, and to organize new workers into unions. This class is an opportunity to learn and practise leading effective organizing conversations with peers and experienced organizers from across the labour movement. We cover the elements of an organizing campaign from first contact to first contract, and the provincial and federal labour codes and how they apply to organizing. This course is designed to be an introductory training session that covers the basics of union organizing.
Participants will be expected to work as a group throughout the course just like in a real organizing campaign.
Pre-registration is required as course space is limited - registration is open to all, union membership is not necessary. If class space is full please contact Elizabeth via email at firstname.lastname@example.org or phone 604-254-0703 to put your name on the wait list.
Fees include material. Cancellations must be received 5 working days prior to course start for a refund. No-shows will be charged the full course fee. Exceptions on a case-by-case basis.
